All Or None

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
One of the most common prayers I hear from people is a cry for direction. Lord, what should I do? Which way should I go? I am not sure what steps to take.
And the beautiful thing is, God wans to lead you. He longs to give direction to his people. Plainly. Clearly.
But notice what this passage is saying. It makes a conditional statement out of God’s direction. It says that if you acknowledge Him in all your ways, then He will direct your path. Direction is tied to the surrender.
What does it mean to acknowledge God?
To acknowledge is to act according to knowledge. You first receive the knowledge of God concerning a matter, and then you respond to that knowledge. You act on what He reveals. In other words, acknowledging God is not a spiritual feeling, but a posture. It is the willingness to let what God reveals actually govern what you do.
This is why Jesus echoed in the New Testament that: if any man is willing to do His will, he shall know it. John 7:17. God reveals His will to willing people. Not to the curious. Not to the cautious. To the willing.
When we lack direction, we tend to assume that God is withholding something from us, that we have not prayed enough or fasted enough or waited long enough. But more often than not, the issue is not that God is silent. The issue is that there are areas of our lives where we have not yet handed Him the keys. Areas where we still want to be in charge.
We want God to lead our careers but not our relationships. We want His wisdom in finances but not in how we spend our time. We want direction in the big decisions but not in the daily ones.
That simply does not work.
Today’s text says trust in the Lord with all your heart. Not most of it. Not the comfortable parts. All of it. This is an all-or-nothing principle. You cannot selectively submit to God and expect to walk in full clarity.
Partial surrender produces partial vision.
God has to be Lord of your marriage. Lord of your finances. Lord of your home. Lord of your ambitions. All of it placed under His lordship.
Maybe the direction you have been seeking is waiting on a totality of surrender that has not yet happened. Maybe the path forward becomes clear the moment you stop holding certain areas back.
Prayer
Oh Lord, I yield all of myself to You. I give You my whole heart, and I acknowledge You in all of my ways.
I act according to Your revelation in every area of my life, and I ask that You direct my path. I refuse to live my days in confusion. I walk in the light of life.
Amen.

"Direction is tied to surrender and to acknowledge is to act according to knowledge." We cannot selectively submit to God and expect to walk in full clarity because partial surrender produces partial vision.
I will trust in the Lord with all my heart. Not most of it. Not the comfortable parts. All of it. For me, it is an all-or-nothing principle.
Thank you, sir
